Is it praiseworthy or blameworthy to acquire worldly goods?

Ibn Qudama said:

"Know that this world is a whole made up of certain elements which exist to benefit people.

For example, let us take the earth and all that is in it. It is a dwelling place for humans and contains clothing, food, drink and marriages. All of this assists the human in his journey towards Allah."
