Know that sins are a veil that hides the Beloved. And it is obligatory to keep away from everything that distances one from the Beloved.

This can only be achieved through knowledge, regret and determination. Indeed, he who does not know that sins are a cause of estrangement from the Beloved, does not regret them, nor does he feel any sorrow at walking on the path of desires. And if he does not feel any sorrow, he will not return to Allah.

There is unanimity on the obligation of repentance, because sins are destructive and lead to distancing oneself from Allah. Therefore, one must flee from them immediately.
